I've got a simple fixed width text file, with several fields are certain
fixed locations (allegedly). I'm trying to ascertain where either I'm
making a mistake importing the fields into an existing layout or perhaps
the programmer creating the data stream has an inaccuracy in his layout
to me. It'd be great help if I could see where the heck I am
horizontally in the row. I turned on the Show text line/column position
option ON in the Tools/Options/IDE tab, but that seems worthless. I
thought someone else here had encountered a similar frustration?

What trick/option do I need to set to get the actual column position to
show in the status bar at the bottom of the screen for this text file?

ugh...tia!
