Judging by the subject of your post and what you said above---is he 
interested in going to open source tools? I must admit I like the 
incentive-based pay idea.


It's his bonus Michael.  The more money the division makes the more he gets.  
That doesn't filter down to the employees in mega scale like he gets.  

 

Making anything takes talent and time.  you have to pay for the talent and time 
is something that you think that your going to "Handel" ;->

 

Here there is only one way of doing things.  Java, plain and simple.  there is 
no need to do it any different.
