Hi Richard,

>> Anyone have any tricks for doing something like this with menus?<<

The MNX is one of the weirder metadata files. The key with this file is the
records physically have
to be in the order of the menu (left to right for the pads, and top to bottom
for the dropdowns).
The Pad record is first, followed by records for the dropdown. I am not sure
why the Fox Team
designed it this way, but for GenMenu/GenMenuX to work right the menu file has
to be in the physical
order.

That is also good news for you since you can easily see the Pad and all the
drop down items
associated with this in the MNX so you can easily see what records need to be
pulled from the file
and inserted into the new file. You need to know about the old-fashioned INSERT
BEFORE BLANK command
from the old 2.x days. This physically inserts a record into the file and moves
the other records
down. It still works in VFP, but you need to have the table opened EXCLUSIVE
and no buffering set
for it to work.

The details of the MNX are documented in the VFP\Tools\Filespec\60spec.pjx.
Just run the reports for
the menu files.
