I agree about justifying $12K for a camera is hard to do unless a publication will buy it for you. I saw (http://www.usa.canon.com/html/templatedata/pressrelease/20070820_40d.ht ml) that they are coming out with the 40D with list for $1,200 for the body and it is 10.1MP. I have the 30D and really like it.
