James, if your file is not too long (VFP6 not longer than 16000 lines)
you might try :
        select (lcMyCursor)
        copy to (lcMyXLSFile) type XL5

and then

        oexcel = createobject("excel.application")
        obook = oexcel.workbooks.open(lcMyXLSFile)

and just replace the title line for your preference with automation.

This might reduce the chance for trouble.
