Hi David! I think he really, really shot himself in the foot with that "Bowling for Columbine" movie. There were too many people who had familiarity with the subject for him to get away with all the distortions he put into that film. Now, when he is not distorting that much, he is considered a liar. A while ago I read a post that some news agency fact checkers worked the material in "Sicko" and found that it is "mostly" factual. Unclear how they can check facts in Cuba and be able to tell whether or not they are getting propaganda. I have personal familiarity with the material covered in "Sicko" as well, at least the US data. Yes, health care here is overly concerned about money, yes, you have to wait a long time if you are poor, yes, the drug companies will release drugs that hurt you - something "Sicko" didn't explore. Another thing "Sicko" doesn't consider is that we actually do have several systems of "free" healthcare in the US. The Members-of-Congress System, the VA system, the Federal Employee's system and Medicare. Most private insurance plans are modelled after Medicare, with the denial of coverage idea being their own invention. There is not enough money in the world to give everyone in the country the Congress system, but we could just expand Medicare to cover everyone. -- Regards, Pete http://www.pete-theisen.com/ _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
