I've always hated when I install some software not knowing *exactly* what it just did to my computer.
Maybe I'm a bit of a control freak, but I've wanted a solution to this issue for some time. Also, I had to manually clean up a spyware infestation I got recently (my first virus/spyware ever), and a utility like this would have saved me tons of time.
