AJ,
For Select statements, take a look at:

mysql_num_rows()

http://uk.php.net/manual/en/function.mysql-num-rows.php

and for deletes and inserts use

mysql_affected_rows()

Subject: TRANCOUNT

Hi All,

Is there any way to find the number of active transactions for a
connection to MySql? (similar to @@TRANCOUNT in MS-SQL)

Thanks.
