True, but doesn't the same header lock occur every time the record count 
needs to be updated? I suppose it doesn't take as long as the 
validation. Anyway, the problem becomes if the client doesn't notice for 
an extended period of time, there is a potential significant loss of 
data. So that has to be weighed against the "becomes a real real pain in 
the a*se" factor... <g>
