Has anyone else seen this behavior? Yesterday afternoon I had to install and
verify my PC ( Vista ultimate running MSO 2003 professional and 2007
professional plus ) using the newest Genuine Advantage active download from
our friends in Redmond after requesting a download. No problem, it
installed, I verified and off I went. This morning I reboot and Outlook
refused to open, citing “ExSec32.dll is not compatible “ error. A quick
Google revealed this was initially reported back when MSO2K7 went from Beta
to release versions ( I never used the beta) but not since. The repair
function failed to resolve the issue, and reloading the app also failed.
Luckily, system restore worked, and I’m back in the saddle. The item I
downloaded was never installed on this PC, and the ActiveX was the only new
installation I did yesterday, so I’m thinking it’s the culprit.
