On a motorway (Think I5 etc) the speed limit is 70MPH (yes miles per hour not KM - They invented the measure after all!).
He was done on a dual carriageway which whilst having the same speed limit is a smaller road but with each side separated from one another. The police have to allow a 10% leeway to compensate for speedometers which aren't exact but that's as far as it goes. Standard fine is £60 & 3 points (which IIRC last 4 years on your license 12 points = instant ban), anything over 50% over the limit is usually a ban for 3 months + points + large fine. Most motorways have people driving at about 80 in the outside lane and you can only overtake someone in a lane outside of them, not in any lane. IMHO I prefer the speed limits in Germany where in town limits are very heavily enforced with motorways having greater freedom and some parts having unlimited speed restrictions. How fast do Brits really drive? By that I mean, what is the "enforcement speed", the speed where the average cop will tag him/her? -- Regards, Pete http://www.pete-theisen.com/ [excessive quoting removed by server] _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
