IIRC you can do this with some API calls, but it is quiet difficult.
Your best bet is to check out news2news and look in the printer section.

Conversation: Looking for code snippet to update printer settings
Subject: Looking for code snippet to update printer settings

Hi all:

I'm looking to find a snippet (or two) of code that would allow me
to
update the settings of a printer from within Windows. I need to be able
to
do this without the user needing to take any intervention to enable the
new
settings.

I seem to remember doing this a while back but I can't find the code
that I'd written to do this (and yes, I feel quite foolish about not
being
able to find my code). The main thing I need to be able to alter is the
paper size for the current printer, but being able to adjust other
things --
such as duplexing mode, copy count, etc. -- would be nice as well.

If anyone can point me to this type of code, I'd greatly appreciate
it!

    Thanks,

        Jon
