I've got a VFP9 app that uses a MySQL5 database from the web. My user
apparently likes to leave the app on all day long, and as such, he'll have
long periods of inactivity that seems to cause a "timeout" kind of issue
where he loses connection to the database.

My first thought was to put a simple timer in place that did a query like
"SELECT @@VERSION" or something else non-intensive, just to keep the
connection from going away.

Ideas other than this?

tia!
