Malcolm,
Look at the Grid Drag/Drop that I posted on the downloads section. It may
well give you some ideas as I use a visual class placed over the grid at
design time which gives drag/drop ability. The method could easily be
adapted to any underlying container/control and all the drag/drop logic is
in the visual class.

An idea: Float (via zorder) a transparent shape over your containers and
place all your drag drop logic in this control. When your transparent
shape moves, move its underlying container.
