People are treated all over the world where centres of excellence exist. My mother was treated at Sloane Kettering for her cancer in NY while my wife has had eye surgery at Centre for Sight outside London this week because they are acknowledged to be the best in the world at eye implants.
As we are in the UK does that imply that the US system is defunct, because my mother flew to NY for treatment doe that imply the UK system is defunct no it just shows that, if you afford it, you go where the best are. By all known metrics the US system isn't the best and neither are the Canadian or the British. They are methods used for delivery of healthcare, some buy in, some universal.
