For what it's worth, I hate that. Just try cutting/pasting those paragraphs to some other text-editing software, and then try to delete that odd, too-high, not-really-a-blank-line space out of the text. Typing is typing. Desktop publishing is desktop publishing. The two should not be conflated. So there.
