Most products allow for a 30 day money back guarantee so why not do the
same? The commercial product I was involved with only allowed for 10
records to be added to the database. Any more than that then they have
to pay, which did happen with one company that tried and a few months
(maybe a year?) later called us to buy it because they wanted to add
more data.

Subject: Ideas for trial versions

Rather than messing around with dates, why not use some of the SET
commands to throttle down performance? I was looking at SET OPTIMIZE
and thought that perhaps that was an easy way to deter folks from using
a TRIAL version forever. I don't like the idea of time bombs and was
thinking of alternatives.

I downloaded this evaluation copy of Easy GIF Animator earlier this week
and it's set up for 20 uses....so if I open/close it 20 times...even if
in one day, it's time up!
