This seems like a good time to remind everyone on this list about
Derek's contribution to making this list possible. As many of you
know, I run my server from the RoadRunner account for my home, which
means that I have an IP address in the range reserved for dynamic
addresses. Many ISPs block spam from these know dynamic ranges, on
the assumption that such addresses should be sending mail through
their ISP's server and not directly. However, RoadRunner limits
outgoing messages from any address to about a thousand a day, which
is more than enough for most, but would be about 3 postings a day for
ProFox!
The solution that I've used for the past few years has been to route
mail to addresses whose ISPs block dynamic ranges through a server
with a fixed IP address. Derek has been generous enough to provide
his server at sensiblesoftware.com for this purpose; without this,
most of you could not receive ProFox. So take a second to look at
your email headers, and if you see an entry for
'suggs.sensiblesoftware.com' in there, be sure to thank Derek for
contributing to the community!
