Hi Michael!

I remember the high school chemistry (Catholic) nun with the block of sodium. 
She cut it a little with a knife and it looked like metal where it had been 
cut.

She said the outside of it was oxidized. I don't remember her saying it would 
react violently with water - perhaps she did, or maybe she would rather we 
didn't know that!
