If security is a concern, you shouldn't be using DBFs in the first 
place!  I'm convinced that a web database, with ever increasing gains of 
network piping to the internet, is the way to go.  That way, your 
browser apps and smart client apps can both hit the same database on the 
web.  Yes, there are some places where they're not connected, but the 
majority of folks are going to be (if not already), imo.
