At a place I used to work at (which will remain nameless) me and one of 
the other developers did the same thing... we both nearly hurled when we 
saw the line count just do open a view on a table using our homegrown 
framework...

When we complained (performance was a common end-user gripe) 
management's response was "Don't worry about it, code is fast" we were 
told...
