My thoughts on this are

He should not write to your fields in your tables
But if he needs to write to his own fields in your tables he should ask 
you to modify your tables to include his fields
He would then be able to write to his fields but not yours
He should not be able to append or delete from the tables

Alternatively it might be possible for him to maintain his own 
tables/fields in parallel with yours

In my experience this kind of thing can work but it requires a clear 
understanding and ground rules for who can do what
