The blogger is making an assumption that each event is singular and discreet... 
ignoring the observation of behavior patterns for which there can be no 
charitable explanation.  Then we also have to consider the academic tone of the 
article which precludes an understanding of the passions involved when 
something one cares about greatly (like one's country) is attacked repeatedly 
froma source one would expect to be supportive (like fellow citizens).  

If some things don't get your blood boiling, you are either numb or dead.

Life is little like the discussion groups up in them thar ivory towers.  We 
live in the real world where we watched fellwo Americans diving out of the WTC 
rather than burn to death.  We do not have the luxury of analyzing everything 
with academic disinterest... and more to the point, if someone is hurting me, 
my family or my country, do I really care what their motivations are?

Having said that I must say that I know some Ds that are decent people... just 
a little naive.
