Sounds like a sweet bass. A friend of mine has nice a pre-CBS Precision
fretless, he had no idea of the value until I finally talked him into
getting in appraised. He let me borrow it a few times for gigs until I got
my own fretless back in the days when I used to play a lot; boy do miss
those days. Later I bought a newer Fender Jazz but it just wasn't the
same.

Last year I picked up a Warwick Corvette-5 for several hundred less than its
true value (thank you, Guitar Center). Figured I'd play it for a few
months and sell it off and enjoy the profit - but the tone on it is
incredible so I ended up keeping it. Preamp eats batteries if left in
overnight though.

So much gear... so little time.

Al,
Took mine to be valued for insurance purposes last month and was astounded.
I've had it since 1968 and bought it off the Jethro Tull bassist Glenn
Cornick in who in turn had bought it from Roger Waters of Pink Floyd fame.

Luckily I have the provenance to prove it as well as the signed album Stand
Up on which Glenn played the bass.

It's a Fender pre CBS Precision and I had a solid ebony fretboard fitted
with silver fretting once I bought it.

The valued it at just over £5K as it is one of the early Pre CBS models with
an early serial number - much sought after evidently. And Here's me just
dragging it around from gig to gig (not that I do many these days). The
trouble is that now I know how valuable it is I'll be over protective and
worry unduly. In a way I wish I didn't know its value.

Dave
