Of course the first option. There are good and bad <insert religious group here>. It may have been Hollywood playing it up, but my impression is that that's not so---they were killing in the name of Allah/God, no? That's the impression from the cockpit dialogue. For people who are categorized as not conservatives or "red" republicans---why do you think they carried out 9/11? Was it purely for political (and not religious) reasons? Disclaimer: I'm no expert on political stuff and usually detest it. I think independently also of whatever "label" is affixed to me (conservative/liberal, Republican/Democrat, etc.).
