Hams are the original world wide internet and developed most of what we know as cell phone technology. There are a few hams on ProFox which is great! On New Years Eve hams around the world put away their fancy keyers and use a straight key. To give you a little background, I use a single paddle with a circuit that produces dashes when I push from the left and dots when I push from the right. Most hams use a double paddle that does basically the same thing. On New Years Eve we put away our fancy equipment and use the old fashioned straight key. A straight key is like switching on a light bulb on and off. The timing of the dots and dashes is based on how long you hold the key down. Most everyones keying is sloppy but it is a great deal of fun.
