Do you really think native 64 bit apps will run faster in general?
Speaking as someone who has lots of various assembler experience I
would say that only *very* specific apps will benefit from a 64 bit
CPU (today, at least).  For example if you're heavily into 3D graphics
rendering or if you're running something that needs > 4Gb of RAM.

The x86 instruction set has to be the worst ever.  Backwards
compatible to some crappy 8bit CPU.  Nice.  IBM almost chose
Motorola's 68000 for their PC.  Now that's a nice CPU (32 bit from the
programmers point of view).
