What???? But browser-based systems are "supposed" to be "independent" of this kind of thinking. How dare you try to insinuate that a desktop-type resolution even be considered for a web page!!! Hee hee. Yes, browser-based systems SUCK. There is no doubt. Like you, people have learned to tolerate them. Whether it's the scrolling, or the crude attempts to give desktop functionality inside a browser, or the truly horrendous response delays. People may eventually get fed up with it and return to actual Rich Client applications, or they may not. But in any event, any browser-based system is going to SUCK just about any way you access it (since its... uh... through a browser). My neighbor was showing me his ASUS - he was playing video from his MythTV on it (using the ASUS's built in wireless). It was awesome. Just as good as the little DVD player we have at home. Then he popped over to some other applications, browsed the web for a bit, some of the system settings, etc. It is a truly awesome device. Maybe its the Linux stuff that make it truly shine, I don't know. But I was very impressed (and I gotta say that very little in the commercial computer world has impressed me lately). But let me clarify. I would also not use this as a main machine, especially as a developer. But I will use it to do documentation while on the road. Maybe a little development. Maybe a lot of presentations. And so on. As I recall, I believe the price is around $400 (more or less based on the options you select). For once, that seems reasonable to me. I sure hope the incredibly high level of demand doesn't jack the price up though. One thing is for sure, MS's licensing/threats/FUD/strong-arm crap will not be able to influence the price of the machine like they do elsewhere. -Charlie _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
