In our house, we "redoom" (redeem for cash) soft drink and beer bottles,
recycle Plastics 1 and 2, glass, paper, and tin. I compost all non-meat
scraps, and on the extremely rare occasions when there are meat scraps,
the dogs and cats get those. We have to pay $1 per bag of trash dumped
off, and we typically average $2 a month. For a family of 3, I don't
think that's TOO bad, although I wish they'd go back to taking plastics
3, 4, and 5.
