I didn't mean to send this one just yet, it was in my "drafts" and I  
sent it by accident.

I *would* have added that must have something to do with "refresh" as  
when you click or tab to the various controls, they refresh. I did  
check Bindcontrols and it is .T.

BUT, between that sentence and this, I found it. In the  
DataEnvironment, I reset the datasource to default (none), from NULL.  
I don't have any idea why that worked, but it did (nor how it got to  
a non-default value in the first place -- but I can look in the  
parent classes now and see why.)

Gee....

I haven't done Fox stuff for a long time.... It is starting to feel  
alien. (I keep wanting to put ; at the end of each line).

Thanks for prompting my brain to think about this in a different way.
