It should be very simple to do a double-blind experiment and prove whether 
prayer works or not. Just because someone prays for deliverance from 
affliction and is delivered doesn't "prove" that prayer did it.

In any case religion since my childhood says that God has given us free-will 
and does not interfere with our choices. Then why would he grant our wishes 
through prayer?
