I need to produce some data and system architecture diagrams for a project I'm proposing. I'm looking for advice on software, templates, graphics to do this. I currently use an awkward mix of PowerPoint and Visio, but I have the feeling that there's got to be better tools available.
Note: This is a proposal so I don't have access to any meta data to generate my data architecture diagrams.
