Species are dying faster than new ones because of deforestation, global
warming and pollution. All of it caused by people. It takes hundreds or
thousands of years for new species to appear but only a few years on the
order of 15 to wipe out a species. Check the various science news sites for
examples. Biologists estimate something like 200 amphibian species will go
extinct in the next five years.
