The rot gut at the heart of our politics these days, masking deep-seated hate as boundless "hope" (Obama) and ideological incompetence as practical experience (Hillary!), painting selfish opportunism as high-minded public service (McCain) and crushing debt and capital erosion as liberating wealth (free trade)--not to mention the endless parade of images of the thoughtless, selfish and ridiculous people we are becoming via the personal indiscretions of our all-too-representative representatives (list too long to enumerate)--is really starting to stink the place up, in both parties.
It's going to be tough times, and right soon.
