Graham, First of all, the comments are VFP 9 SP2 vs. SP1 and seriously SP2 fixes way more than it broke, so don't believe everything you read on the Internet. Yes, there are a couple of major issues, but you can read about these on the Visual FoxPro Wiki, and see firsthand how you can work around most of them. There is one brutal reporting bug you should understand and if you are using tooltips on grid headers you might feel some additional frustration. Most everything else has a decent workaround.
I think you will see the transition from VFP 8 to VFP 9 more work with respect to system testing, but most everything works in my experience. You can SET REPORTBEHAVIOR 80 until you have time to test out all your reports. Nice thing is you can have both SP1 and SP2 installed on the same machine so you can evaluate your applications to understand the true impact. You can download my white paper to simplify your installation headaches here: http://www.whitelightcomputing.com/resourcesdeveloper.htm Look under white papers: "Install and Run Different VFP 9 Versions on One Computer" Rick White Light Computing, Inc. www.whitelightcomputing.com www.swfox.net www.rickschummer.com -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Graham Brown (CompSYS) Sent: Sunday, March 30, 2008 05:27 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Which version of Vista for Fox Hi all I've heard M$ are about to kill off XP (again) so I suppose I should go out and buy a pc with Vista on it to see how my VFP8 apps work with it. Could anybody tell me which version of Vista I need so it connects my network the same as XP Pro? Also are there any specific editions which work better or worse with database apps in v8? I'm going to trawl the posts later to see what else is broken in Vista but I've read on this list that VFP9 SP1 breaks more than it fixes? Graham Brown CompSYS Software Solutions BNI Member.
