It's not that I got my hand slapped yesterday; it is that I didn't want the
conversation to continue going OT in the tech list. I can understand having some
jokes during the conversations, as long as there is something OT free going on
in the message, without the joke going way off board, but when the only thing in
the email is a continuation of the joke, then that's when I stepped in, which
was happening. The last 3 emails on this topic were about the joke.

I disagree. Banter is OK. It keeps us friends, not just colleagues.  
The problem sometimes has been that some folks can't distinguish the  
two. That is not the case here.
