I left the macro assembler for Basic -> xBase -> FPD -> VFP simply because I couldn't afford the machines I had already mastered. My first software business used time-shared 360's and code libraries that today would be huge and vast had I been able to stay that course, but I switched, at first for economic reasons, then again because the flock and the King told me so, and today, with the benefit of hindsight, I lament all those re-writes that wasted my time and fortune. Do you really think that Python is the Last Big Thing?
