Jeff, My actual experience with VM was in the IBM world, and in that context we could run any OS under VM, even VM (again). So, my expectation is that VM in the PC world can do similarly and that you shouldn't have any problem running any of the OS's you choose to in a VM environment - that the only real obstacle was having enough RAM to do so without a performance hit. With the price of RAM having dropped as it has, that's no longer an obstacle. Thus it seems that you (and I, everyone) would want to make this change ourselves.
I have different machines with different versions of Windows (except Vista) because I bought them way and most of my time is using XP with little real need to run the others except for some testing or convenience.
