It's easy to sound critical with a touch of superiority if one is not 
responsible for the answers.  The truth is that people are working on 
alternative energy sources as there would be a tremendous market for them.  
They haven't found any that work on a large scale, so unless you are working on 
the problem in may be best not to criticize those who are.  And best not choke 
our economy while waiting for what may turn out to be an impossible dream.  But 
keep on charging at those wind mills!

You sound as if you think we can conserve our way out of the problem... fat 
chance!
