It could just be that they see you as a gnat on the butt of an elephant and just don't want to be bothered with the extra effort entailed with the contract signing process. I really doubt it has anything to do with you personally other than the annoyance factor for so little payback. If it were me, I'd make the changes needed to the contract, initial them, sign it, and send it back to them. I'm guessing the part they find most annoying is having to modify the contract on their end and send it to you. If you take their tack and simply send them your version with your signature you may have much better luck.
