That article doesn't cover your question, though; it addresses
vertical lists of items, whereas you were asking about adjacent
columns (label, control). If the labels are roughly the same width,
I'd go with left alignment, but when they are varying width, it's
harder to visually associate a label with its control, so I'd go with
right-aligned labels so that the distance between the columns is
consistent.
