That does appear to be a bloomin good point, it's just it was the policeman who said that Muslims would find it racist, how does he know unless he is a Muslim himself (Not mentioned). The UK PM though has said that he wants all public buildings to fly the Union Jack (The flag for the whole UK) and for people to take pride in their country more (closer to the US but without all the jingoism that is allowed to happen).
