There are issues with Advantage Database Server when migrating or using it with VFP tables. You can read Doug's article in the special April issue of FoxRockX. I have seen 7GB DBFs opened using the local engine (free). The one drawback is you still have to migrate your application to the client-server mentality and design, which you would do anyway when moving to a backend server. The advantage is you don't have to write any conversion code, you just use your DBFs.
