Hi Charles

Right click on "My Computer"
Left Click on "Explore"
On the Explorer menu Click "Tools"
Then Click "Folder options"
Then Click the "View" tab
Put the dot in Do not show hidden files and folders
Take the tick out of Hide extension for known file types (better to see
the true extension)
Tick Hide protected operating system files.

See if this hides the folders.

If not then Right Click on the start button, left click on explore.
This will open up Explorer to show the documents and settings for the
current logged in user.
If that is not Charles.V6000 then the two folders can be deleted.
Perhaps it would be better to rename them for a while. And also to
click through them to see if there is anything important.
Each user has a folder in Documents and settings which hold anything
that is for that user only.
If you log onto a domain it will create another set of folders with your
log in name plus something to distinguish the type of login.
In the office I can log into my laptop onto my Win2003 server and the
user details in Documents and settings are phart.peterhartcomput
If I log into the laptop without logging onto the domain the user
details are phart.

The temp file can definitely go as it will have only held temp files
from installs or where programs have failed to delete them when the
program has been exited.

I hope this is the information you want.

Cheers

Peter Hart.

Subject: [NF] Strange Folder on DeskTop

I just did a System Restore on my Presario v6000 running XP
SP2.

I have two users:

Administrator

Charles

The name of the laptop is:

v6000

Administrator is only available from Safe Mode.

I and found weird folders for the first time since I have
been

computing for two decades:

C:\Documents and Settings\Charles.V6000

C:\Documents and Settings\Charles.V6000\Local Settings\Temp

What is going on?

What do you suggest?

Thank you.
