"I'm saddened by today's verdict," Obama said Wednesday. "This isn't the
Tony Rezko I knew, but now he has been convicted by a jury on multiple
charges that once again shine a spotlight on the need for reform. I
encourage the General Assembly to take whatever steps are necessary to
prevent these kinds of abuses in the future."

At some point people are going to wonder just how the hell this guy
fundamentally misjudges so many of his close, long-time friends, associates
and spiritual mentors. Can't wait to see what kind of cabinet he picks...
</sarcasm>

In this case his "friend and fundraiser" Tony Rezko is coldly reduced to a
bullet point for government reform. Rev. Wright and Fr. Phleger, his
LONG-time spiritual mentors, are callously reduced to examples of what he
WON'T let his campaign become. He dithered about his wife's insult against
the nation, trying to make it sound like an innocent statement made after
being very tired on the campaign trail, and then removed her from prominent
view other than a few high-fives at victory speeches. Talk about "Get thee
behind me Satan!" I don't think Jesus said it as many times in the New
Testament as Obama has had to say it the primaries alone...

Hey Obama supporters...does none of this bother you at all? Really?
Criminals, bigots, chronic malcontents and religious lefters (to paraphrase
Leland) seem the norm among his inner circle.

This guy is either a total fraud, a schizophrenic, or an ignoramus.
Actually, these aren't mutually exclusive possibilities--but at least one of
them must be true.

Personally I think it's the first option. When you peek under the hood you
see that he's a textbook left-wing nut-job, whose ostensible "ideas" are
sooo early 1900's in their perspective. He masquerades as a moderate, a
uniter and, most ironic of all, something fresh, hiding behind a short
resume, an empty suit and some decent speaking skills. He's aided
tremendously by the caliber of his competition, to boot.

And BTW, did you hear Obama effectively say that never before "this moment"
did we "begin" to take care of the sick, create jobs for the jobless, etc.?
Is he serious? And his taking credit for the future healing of the planet...
my Lord, that sounds like Edward's prophetic vision of a once-and-future
John Kerry administration, raising the dead and curing the terminally ill
with plain ol' embryonic stem cells.

I think they all have a God complex, loathe though they may be to admit that
God is even on their playing field, and their constituents have a kind of
secular Jesus envy--preferring these narcissistic duds for some reason to
the real McCoy.

With every election cycle I grow more apolitical, if not anti-political.
