For anyone who may care about the ability to downgrade from Vista to XP Pro with new PC purchases, this link may be of value:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/f/4/5f4c83d3-833e-4f11-8cbd-699b0c1 64182/royaltyoemreferencesheet.pdf In an ongoing series of eMails between Dell and myself it is clear to me one must be very careful with making a purchase if he/she wants to downgrade to XP Pro. Before purchasing speak with a Sales Rep and find out clearly what steps are involved for the Downgrade, and if the PC you (or a client) are considering qualifies for the Downgrade. Make certain you are clear on who provides the Downgrade License Key Code. Make certain when the new Vista OS PC arrives you (or the client) do NOT activate the Vista license, otherwise there any Downgrade opportunity is negated. For me, you can be certain I will want all that info from a Sales Rep in writing/eMail before making the purchase. Note the Vista versions less than Business and Ultimate do not qualify for a Downgrade. Further, Dell does now offer Ubuntu OS on some PCs. Ciao! Gil Gilbert M. Hale New Freedom Data Resources, Inc.
