That's it...

Outlook had got messed up because I installed Excel 2003 to get the APPEND
FROM XXX TYPE XLS command to work.

Instead of "Outlook.Application", you can also use the version specific
number such as "Outlook.Application.11". In any case, in Outlook you should
run the Help > Detect and Repair... Funtion. Usually, this function fixes
the problem.
