I think the EPA grossly understanded the mpg that can be expected when driving the VW Jetta SportWagen TDI. Evidentially VW thinks so too, so the hired an outside third party to certify the VW Jetta SportWagen TDI mpg. The pleasent thing about own a VW TDI diesel in the past is that owner routine experienced mpg that exceeded epa estimates, where in most other auto, the actual mpg obtained was less that epa estimates:
