"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. "For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that the things which are seen are not made of the things which are visible." -- Hebrews 11:1-3 - - - Hebrews 11 is one of the most profound explanations of what faith is what why it is a prerequisite to please God, and achieve liberation from this body of death (the deep subject of Romans 7-8). Once you grok it, your understanding of reality will make a quantum leap of sorts toward a kind of clarity no mere argument can provide, or fully qualify. It also stirs in me a conviction of how often I fail to be faithful, and get enmeshed in political disputes of a non-spiritual nature, and live carnally insofar as I continue to do that... and no I don't mean masturbating at the keyboard, which is apparently a common practice among "my friends" here. ;-) That carnal vs. spiritual living message was the actual subject of 1 Corinthians 2-3, quoted previously. I actually wasn't just picking on Ed's unbelief, but my own unfaithfulness as well. Thanks to Steven Russell for setting the stage--I needed the reminder. :) - Bob _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
