You're right, you can't leave anything lying around. I made the mistake of leaving my briefcase and a dirty suit I was bringing to the cleaners in my car. There was nothing of value in the briefcase, but of course the thief didn't know that. He broke my window and took my stuff. I had to drive 1 1/2 hours in sub-freezing weather with the broken drivers window to get home.
